Who is Michael Stone ?

Michael Stone was born in Sydney Australia and holds degrees from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Bachelor of Science (Honours in Geography) and Master of Commerce. His studies, including Biogeography, Cartography, Geomorphology, Pedology and Remote Sensing (satellite imagery and aerial photography) give him a unique understanding and perspective evident in his photographic compositions.

Michael has had a passion for photography since his early teens. Completely self-taught, his extraordinary eye for composition and detail, and a perfectionist approach to results has always been evident in his work, even in those very early years.

Michael has entered exhibitions that held a special interest to him, or upon specific request. While we won't list them all here, his work has most recently been exhibited in the "This is Australia" Nikon Club Australia Photo Contest 2003 and the Hasselblad XPan Masters Exhibition 2003.

As part of his career, Michael has worked for MGM, a major Hollywood studio, for over 5 ½ years, and it was his colleagues' recognition of his work and persistence that finally convinced Michael to release his "Private Collection" which is now available internationally with the creation of the "Expanse Gallery".

Michael's enthusiasm for photography has never waned, and his "private collection", already comprising countless thousands of images, continues to grow, as his never ending search for interesting subjects draws him further afield on excursions at every opportunity.

This enthusiasm will ensure a continuing supply of spectacular Michael Stone prints even though only a small proportion will ever pass his critical eye for release through the "Expanse Gallery".
